APPENDICITIS

The appendix is a small, were armed like attachment at the beginning of the colon.  Since it was long believed that the appendix served no purpose within the body at all, it was often removed routinely as a preventive measure.  It is now believed, however, that the appendix helps in the immune system of the intestinal tract, and is therefore more likely to become infected, just as the tonsils are in the throat.  Usually, a trigger for appendicitis is unknown.  In some instances, a blockage irritate the appendix, causing a buildup of bacteria which can lead to infection.  Hardened stool through long-term problems with constipation can cause such a blockage.  Appendicitis is an abnormal infection that has a tendency to flare up quickly.  It can develop into a life-threatening emergency situation within hours.  The pain of appendicitis usually starts around naval area.  When the pain finely extends to the lower right corner of the abdominal, where the appendix is located, the inflammation is full-blown, and needs immediate emergency attention.  The danger of acute appendicitis is that the puss filled appendix can burst, spilling bacteria into the abdominal cavity and threatening life.

Nutritional Supplements

If surgery has been performed, vitamin E supports wound healing and Vitamin C prevents infection and supports the immune system.  Bioflavonoids work naturally with Vitamin C.  These vitamins are excellent during an infection, and vitamin C can be taking in high dosages if necessary.  The B vitamins can be added to the regimen to provide the body with the extra strength needed for the stress of surgery and illness.  It antibiotics have been given, a lactobcillus acidophilus complex should be taken concurrently and for several weeks afterwards to re-establish the healthy the intestinal flora, essentially for a high digestive system, and to prevent further illness especially fungal infections.

Daily Dosages

Vitamin C, with bioflavoids, 500 to 1000 mg every few hours, up to 5000 mg daily.

Lactobacillus acidophilus complex, one to three capsules or 1 tsp.

Vitamin E, with mixed tocopherols, 400 to 800 IU

Vitamin B complex, 50 mg one to three times daily.

Herbal Remedies Recommendations

While waiting for the doctor, rest in bed in a half sitting position.   Measure and record temperature and pulse.   Apply a cool mud or healing clay on the liver area.

MAGNETIC THERAPY

The northern bipolar magnet can be placed over the affected area.  In advanced infections, however, you should not hesitate to call a doctor, as this is an emergency situation.
